Nicholas Holland

PERCUSSION

Dr. Nicholas V. Holland, III is the Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands and Instrumental Curriculum Coordinator at Charleston Southern University. At Charleston Southern, he directs the Pride of the Lowcountry marching band and the 6 th Man Band basketball pep band, and is musical director and conductor of the CSU Symphonic Band, assistant conductor of the CSU Wind Ensemble, and assistant conductor of the South Carolina Youth Wind Symphony. He teaches courses in Conducting, Music Technology, Music Appreciation and Freshman Seminar. Dr. Holland holds BM and MM degrees in music education from East Carolina University and the PhD in music education from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He maintains membership in NAfME, CBDNA, SCMEA, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha Iota as a “Friend of the Arts.” Dr. Holland has published and presented research on noise exposure in collegiate bands, on percussion pedagogy, and instrumental music methods. He is an active percussionist and conductor, and performs frequently with orchestras, community bands, and praise bands including the North Charleston Pops! Orchestra, the Charleston Wind Symphony, the Charleston Men’s Chorus, and The Charleston Bach Society. He is an active adjudicator and clinician of marching and concert ensembles throughout the country.
